How do I apply for admission to OSU?
You may apply for admission online using our electronic application. You must provide payment using a credit card and it is only for the admission application. We do not currently offer the Residential Life, Scholarship or Honor's College applications to be submitted electronically. You may also apply by completing the Undergraduate Application for Admission provided in the Applying to OSU Packet. You can request this document by postal mail, email or print it out from the Internet. For this method you must fill out the application by hand and mail it to our office.
When will I be notified of my admission status?
It takes approximately 5-10 working days from receipt of application to review your admission file and notify you of your admission status. During the heavy application period of January 15 through February 15 the notification process may take longer.
What is the deadline to apply for admission?
If you are a US citizen or US permanent resident you can apply up until classes begin for the semester you wish to attend. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible as some of the other applications such as Scholarships, Financial Aid and Residential Life have deadlines and awards are dependent upon being admitted.
What if I do not meet admission requirements?
There are special alternative admission categories for some students whose high school performance and test scores do not meet the requirements to be admitted in good standing. For more information about your specific situation please feel free to contact the Office of Admissions.
Once I am accepted, when do I enroll?
Upon acceptance to OSU you will receive information regarding enrollment. New freshman enrolling for the summer or fall semester will attend a one-day orientation/enrollment program during the month of June. Freshman entering OSU in the spring semester will enroll in early December.
How is residency determined?
A student's residency status is determined by staff in the Office of Admissions from information submitted on your application for admission. Please feel free to contact Admissions to inquire about your specific situation. We publish the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education residency policy on our website at:
http://www.okstate.edu/admissions/Residency.html
I will earn college credit before I attend OSU. How do I know if my course(s) will transfer?
All credit transferred to OSU is evaluated on a course by course basis. It is a good idea to contact Admissions for assistance in selecting courses for transferability. If you will earn credit from a two-year Oklahoma institution you can view our Transfer Guides at:
http://www.okstate.edu/admissions/TransferGuides.html
How can I receive Credit by Examination?
OSU grants college credit for acceptable scores on CLEP, AP and IB exams. Contact the Office of Admissions for a Credit by Exam brochure, which lists acceptable exams, minimum scores required and OSU course equivalents. You can also view the brochure on the web at
