What is biology?

Biology is a broad life science degree. Biologists study the construction, purpose, growth, roots, evolution and dissemination of animals, plants and microscopic organisms.

Highlights

Biology students have access to the OSU Collection of Vertebrates (OSU COV). The mission of the (OSU COV) is to house collections as documentation of the vertebrate faunal history and biodiversity of Oklahoma, the United States, and those regions of the world where our faculty and students conduct research and maintain those collections in conditions that promote long-term conservation, education and research.

 

Study Abroad

Students have the option to travel the world and experience new cultures through study abroad opportunities, all while earning college credit. These can include short-term, faculty-led courses that travel over spring break or a few weeks in the summer, as well as semester or year-long programs coordinated through the OSU Study Abroad office. The college offers scholarships to Arts and Sciences majors, such as the CAS Study Abroad Scholarship or the Bailey Family Memorial Trust award.

 

Become an OK-LSAMP Scholar

Oklahoma Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (OK-LSAMP) is a consortium of Oklahoma colleges and universities working together to develop programs aimed at increasing the number of students from under-represented populations who receive degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The OK-LSAMP scholarship program provides scholars with increased opportunities and connections, including undergraduate research experiences, graduate school preparation, international experiences and internships/externships with companies in the STEM fields.
