The communication sciences and disorders program gives you an in-depth study of speech,
language, hearing processes and background orientation about disorders of communication
in preparation for a graduate program.

We offer you a comprehensive pre-professional background to pursue a career in speech-language
pathology and/or audiology. Our curriculum prepares you to apply for graduate school
as well as take on positions such as a speech-language pathology assistant and/or
an audiology assistant.
This program prepares you to enter a graduate program in order to pursue certification
by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Our graduates enjoy successful

Freshmen, sophomores and juniors have the opportunity to observe therapy sessions
and seniors gain clinical experience.
Students gain research experience in the Phon Farm, Motor Speech Lab, Sociophonetics
Lab and the Language Learning Lab.
Opportunity to take courses in American Sign Language, manually coded English and
finger spelling.
Opportunity to take courses in Deaf Education and learn about Deaf Culture.
Observe how a certified audiologist tests hearing loss in newborn babies as well as
in adults.
