MORE ABOUT EBONIE

  • How many people were in your HS graduating class?

    235

  • Why did you choose OSU?

I chose OSU because from the moment I stepped foot on campus, I just felt like I was at home. OSU was also close enough to home that I could go home when I wanted, but it was far enough that I could be truly on my own.

  • What is your favorite memory of your college experience?

Winning the Homecoming game vs. Kansas State my senior year. To win a Homecoming game in such a thrilling fashion and literally scream the fight song at the end of the game…words can’t describe how awesome that game was!

  • What is the one piece of advice that you would give a freshman?

Use a planner! Between classes, social activities and life in general, it’s hard to keep track of everything. Get a planner and use it so that you don’t lose track of things!

  • What was your favorite class at OSU?

American Colonial History with Dr. Cooper. I love early American history and learned so much from that class!

  • What is the one place that people should be sure to visit on the OSU campus?

The food places in HES. Taylor’s Dining and West Side Café are definitely hidden gems that every student should try at least once.

  • How were you involved on campus?

I was in several different organizations, such as the Association for Women in Communications, PRSSA, President’s Posse, Student Conduct Board and Afro-Am. I was also a member of the Honors College, in a sorority and involved in various aspects of Greek Life.

  • What is your favorite OSU tradition?

Besides Homecoming…singing the alma mater after every sporting event.

  • What are some tips that you would give to new freshman about getting involved?

One, check out the Society Squares in the O’Colly. Various organizations use those to promote their events. Also, take the chance to read the many fliers posted around campus, and take advantage of the Activities Mart held at the beginning of the year.

  • What percentage of your wardrobe is orange?

My t-shirt collection is 75 percent orange; however, my overall wardrobe is about 15 percent orange.

  • How did you know that you had found the right major?

I started college intending to be a chemistry major; however, I quickly changed my mind about that notion after I took my first chemistry class. I had done some public relations things while in high school and always said if chemistry didn’t work out, I would major in public relations. I took my first PR class the first semester of my sophomore year and fell in love with it.

  • What quote would you say that you live by?

“Everything happens for a reason.” I truly believe that!

  • What is the most surprising thing about you?

I played the violin for six years…and I miss it! I plan on taking it back up again soon.

  • What was your greatest fear when starting college?

I was so afraid that I wouldn’t fit in. I spent a lot of time in my room my first semester because I was afraid to be rejected by people and always thought I wouldn’t make any friends or fit into any groups. I swallowed my fears and forced myself to join a few student organizations my second semester. Doing so was one of the best decisions I ever made while in college.
