MORE ABOUT MEGAN

  • How many people were in your HS graduating class?

    165

  • Why did you choose OSU?

The moment I walked on campus I felt at home. I was amazed by all the smiling faces and friendly waves and genuinely felt welcome on the campus. I soon realized that I would be treated like a person and not a number in a system at Oklahoma State University.

  • What is your favorite memory of your college experience?

There are so many! One of the greatest experiences at OSU is attending any athletic event. The pride, tradition and spirit that overcome everyone in attendance is something you really have to experience.

  • What was your favorite class at OSU?

Some of my favorite classes include Philosophies of Life, Organic Chemistry, Biomedical Ethics and Horse Science.

  • What is your favorite OSU tradition?

    Everything Homecoming!!

  • How did you know that you had found the right major?

I was interested in learning the material and excited about the new topics.

  • What is the one thing that every new student should bring to campus?

A planner! The Mortar Board is a planner that you can get in the OSU Bookstore and it was a huge help when it came to keeping on top of my academics and extra-curricular activities.

  • What would you do differently if you could start over as a freshman?

If I could do it all over again I would get to know my professors better. The professors at Oklahoma State University are very approachable and enjoy visiting with students.

  • What is the one place that people should be sure to visit on the OSU campus?

Gallagher-Iba Arena, especially during any Men’s or Woman’s basketball game. Voted rowdiest area in the country, Gallagher-Iba Arena is a place to show your true Orange Pride and Cowboy Spirit!

  • What are some tips that you could give to new freshman about getting involved?

Look into getting involved in clubs and organizations that pertain to your major. Getting involved in departmental clubs and organizations is a great way to meet other students with similar backgrounds and interests. It’s also an excellent way to learn more about your major and future career. Many clubs bring in guest speakers who work in your field of study and you can make some outstanding contacts. Ask your advisor or even your professors about what clubs are available.

  • What percentage of your wardrobe is orange?

My overall wardrobe is currently only about 10% orange but growing by the day!

  • How were you involved in campus?

I was involved in the Freshman In Transition (FIT) Living Learning Community as a College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) Freshman. My second year I had the opportunity to continue my involvement with FIT by serving as a Student Academic Mentor and living in the dorms and mentoring students. I was also involved in Block and Bridle, Pre-Vet Club, Horseman’s Association and Alpha Zeta and held numerous leadership positions ranging from Chancellor to Ag Student Council Representative. I was also an Agricultural Ambassador and worked on campus as a Student Services Assistant for the CASNR Student Services Center.

  • What is the most surprising thing about you?

My History Day project display board was on display in the Rotunda of the National Archives Museum in Washington D.C. next to the Declaration of Independence.

  • Who was the one person at OSU that influenced you the most?

Many individuals within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources had a positive impact on my undergraduate experience. One such person who stands out is Dr. Miller, Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Dr. Miller is extremely supportive of the students at OSU. He is a great mentor and a great resource.
