Parents often wonder what will happen to their student after college... ... Will they be successful? Will they find their passion? Can they support themselves financially?
Upon graduation, students need to be able to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom and be prepared for the work force. Oklahoma State University can help your student do just that!
OSU is here to help students prepare for life after graduation with more than 200 different academic major options and a multitude of career resources.
“There are numerous opportunities at OSU and the paths a student can take are diverse,” said Kyle Wray, vice president for enrollment management and marketing. “Students should apply, even if they’re still exploring degree options or undecided on a career path. OSU provides many resources that can help students navigate the process.”
OSU Career Services provides valuable support to help students plan their careers. With résumé reviews, practice interviews and career fairs, your student will have easy access to resources to help them attain the career they desire.
Students are also able to find jobs through Career Services and the www.HireOSUGrads.com system. More than 11,600 jobs were posted on the HireOSUGrads system last year alone. But it isn’t just jobs after graduation that Career Services can help with -- they can also help with student employment. More than 820 part-time student jobs were posted last year.
With more than 800 employers — including Devon Energy, Phillips 66, Amazon, General Electric, Wells Fargo and more — coming to campus every year for career fairs or interviews, students also have lots of opportunities to network with potential employers.
What can parents do to help their student find a career?
“The best thing to do is just listen to everything they say about what they love doing and where they find themselves the most engaged,” said Missy Wikle, director of First Year Experience at OSU, who helps students explore majors and make the most of their OSU experience.
