MORE ABOUT SHELBY
How many people were in your HS graduating class?
180 something.
Why did you choose OSU?
Oklahoma State University and Stillwater blend a friendly small town atmosphere with an exceptional academic opportunity for a one of a kind, accessible college experience.
What is your favorite memory of your college experience?
The great memories I have from OSU could fill a book…but one of the best was following the Cowboys to the Final Four my senior year. I love OSU basketball!
What is the one piece of advice that you would give a freshman?
Smile and make lots of friends in your classes. You never know when you’ll need to borrow notes or ask a question.
What was your favorite class at OSU?
Heritage of Dress.
What is your favorite OSU tradition?
The ringing of the Old Central Bell after a victory over OU…this is the home of the Bedlam Bell, after all.
How did you know that you had found the right major?
When you enjoy a subject and like going to class you know you have a good fit.
What is the one thing that every new student should bring to campus?
A real deal alarm clock! Cell phones can run out of battery and you don’t want to miss that first class of the day!
What would you do differently if you could start over as a freshman?
I would have explored campus. There are so many off the beaten path places to enjoy and experience at OSU.
What percentage of your wardrobe is orange?
My t-shirt collection is about 80% but my wardrobe as a whole is only about 10%
What do you think is the secret to a good freshman GPA?
Study as you go, not just the night before a big test. It only takes a few minutes at the end of the day to review your notes from that day’s classes. That little bit goes a long way when you start to prepare for exams.
What is the most surprising thing about you?
I planned on attending OU until fall of my senior year of high school, but now I bleed orange and couldn’t imagine having a college experience anywhere else.
What reality T.V. show would you be best on?
"What Not to Wear" I just love Stacy and Clinton!
What was your greatest fear when starting college?
Getting lost and showing up in the wrong class room, but fortunately that never happened.
Who was the one person at OSU that influenced you the most?
Not just one person influenced me at OSU. I had so many professors, classmates, and friends that helped and encouraged me along the way. Together, they taught me that in serving others you benefit the most. OSU really is a community working and playing together that makes us all a family of Cowboys!
