- A Truman Honor Institution: OSU has been named a Truman Honor Institution for its success in producing these top national scholars.
- Best College Newspaper: Both the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the Associated Collegiate Press recognize OSU's The Daily O'Collegian as one of the top collegiate newspapers in the country.

- Gates/Cambridge Scholars: Ashley N. Hildebrand, chemical engineering senior from Wichita, and Joel A. Halcomb, history and mathematics senior from Sand Springs, have been named Gates/Cambridge Scholars for 2005. The program provides winners with a full scholarship for graduate study at Cambridge University, funded by the Gates Foundation. Only 35 American students were selected for the honor.
- Undergraduate Research: OSU's Wentz Foundation program is the largest single scholarship program on campus, offering a unique Undergraduate Research Scholarship that allows students to develop their own projects in university labs.
- Colvin Center Gets National Recognition: The National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association, which represents almost every public and private college and university in the nation, has named OSU's Colvin Center one of the top collegiate sports facilities in the nation. Honorees are chosen by architects and collegiate recreational professionals, with the top centers selected on the basis of functionality, attractiveness of the architecture and facility, programming, adaptability to student needs and wise use of budget dollars.
- Largest Transfer Scholarship Program: The SBC Foundation has given OSU $3 million to fund one of the largest college student transfer scholarship programs in Oklahoma and to support academic enhancement initiatives at OSU. Beginning in Fall 2005, scholarships ranging from $3,000 ($1,500 per year for two years) to $4,000 ($2,000 per year for two years) will help outstanding students who want to transfer to OSU. The grant is a major step forward in OSU System CEO and President David. J. Schmidly's President's Opportunity Scholarship Trust campaign, which is raising $50 million for student scholarships.
- Outstanding Professors: The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has named Dr. Kenneth E. Case, Regents Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management as the 2005 recipient of its Medal of Excellence in college teaching. The Dr. Case is the ninth professor to receive this recognition.
