Horticulture is the science, business and art associated with the culture, production, preservation and processing of flowers, trees, shrubs, turf grass, vegetables, fruits and nuts. It also includes the proper environmental use and maintenance of plants in the landscape, as well as food production and sustainability. Students receive strong backgrounds in plant biology and commercial production/maintenance, as well as environmental and business practices. Graduates can work for cities, state park management organizations, golf courses, horticulture businesses or schools.
